About Alan Hisel

Alan Hisel has been involved in the design of new homes and remodeling projects since 1980, working with home owners and builders to find innovative solutions to a diverse range of projects .

Alan holds degrees in both Architecture (1964) and Civil Engineering (1962) from the University of Kentucky, and became a registered architect in 1970. He began practicing commercial architecture during college and after two years working in Europe for design firms, was Principal architect in his own firms until 1980, when he began his career in residential design-build.

 

In 2003, Alan retired from the construction side of his business, but continues to offer residential design services.


Over the years he has been involved in the American Institute of Architects and the Lexington Home Builders Association. He was part of the original group to set up the Remodeler's Council of the LHBA, and has served as chairman of that organization.

 

Alan won a design competition of Kentucky architects in 1973 for the design of the United States Forestry Administration Offices at Berea KY and an A.I.A. Design Award in 1975 for the Lexington Primitive Baptist Church.

 

Alan's construction firm, Hisel & Hisel, Design/Remodeling was selected in 1995 to receive Remodeling Magazine's "theBIG 50" recognition as a leading achiever in the remodeling industry.
